MAIN RESEARCH AREAS

The Laboratory for Friction and Wear Technology (LFWT) is part of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Uberlândia/MG, Brazil. The LFWT research and teaching activities are focused on friction and wear in the mining, oil and gas industries. Our teaching program includes under-graduating and graduating students from the mechanical and mechatronic engineering and related courses.

The LFWT's main research areas are as follows:

  • Evaluation of the tribological performance of materials, in order to help in the selection of materials and to estimate their durability;

  • Development of technology and equipment for the in situ evaluation of mechanical properties;

  • Corrosion/erosion;

  • Instrumentation and control of mechatronic systems;

  • Hydrogen embrittlement

  • Friction tapered plug welding;

  • Failure analysis.

Please, contact us if you are interested in our research or teaching activities.

MISSION

Our mission is to provide effective solutions to problems concerning mechanical and tribological behavior of materials and to contribute to the training of human resources in mechanical, mechatronic and aeronautical engineering.
